A restitution claim is a form of notification lodged in the form of a detailed report, in which, apart from a description of the object and identification of its particular features, its fortunes and circumstances of its loss are also described. The unequivocal indication of the object’s provenance is of particular importance. A crucial part of the claim are copies of archival documents i.e. inventories, objects of scientific papers which confirm the ownership rights, as well as all kinds of lists and information regarding the circumstances of the loss and movements made, especially during the Second World War. All preserved images, like photographs, reproductions or drawings are also vital. It is also important to remember about literature, which may include references to the object.
